Grim news for those who thought achieving equality between the sexes was merely a matter of time: A new study from the University of Maryland has found that young people are less supportive of power-sharing between the genders than they were 20 years ago, at least on the home front.

The study looked at nationally representative longitudinal data about high-school seniors as part of a Gender and Millennials Online Symposium from the Council on Contemporary Families and found an increase in those who believed that families were better off if the men were "the achievers outside the home" and the women handled most of the family and domestic duties. In 1994, only 42% of high school seniors agreed with that statement. Twenty years later, that was the majority view at 58%.

Well, it looks as though the patriarchy is here to stay...

Is it any surprise the younglings would look upon the endless sea of angry, hair-dyed feminist chubsters and say "no thanks"? Obvious statement incoming. Feminists have about as much appeal as getting your gonads caught in a mouse trap. The real question to ask is what took us young folk so long to come around.

A number of theories: one, many Millennials and Gen-Z folks are the children of divorce, where they didn't have two parent households at all. So having two parents in their children's household sounds rather dreamy. Two, these younger generations have witnessed the price of "progress" in the form of both mom and dad away from home, with them getting shuffled to daycare. Boo. Thirdly, a lot of women don't actually want to be career women. They want to be mothers and housewives, but feminists have long told them they're terrible people for wanting to lead a simple, happy life.

Here's a different theory for you. This move toward traditional gender roles is an act of rebellion. You read that right. Leftism is the mainstream. These days, there's nothing controversial about covering your body in tats and piercings, hacking up your babies in utero, or vowing to smash the patriarchy. In 2017, if youngsters want to be rebels, they just do the opposite. They get good jobs, get married, have kids, and take care of them. It's the plot of Family Ties in real life.

For a long time, leftists have been remaking western culture in their own image. It was an inevitability that somebody was going to push back. The left thrust the battle of the sexes into the spotlight for all the world to behold. The problem with that strategy is the guys and the gals have different interests and strengths. Biology, bruh. Leftists inadvertently highlighted those differences. Hence, a generation of "woke" kids, who aren't opposed to gender roles. Congratulations on sinking your own ship, leftists.
