SUCK IT, LOSERS! Texas Republicans Pass Voter ID Bill After Dems Filibuster for 15 Hours
If at first you don't succeed, maybe move out of the state. Texas Senate Democrats have made much to do about how they think voter ID laws are racist, including leaving the state on a charter jet without wearing masks like federal guidelines state, trying to get Hunter's dad to pencil in some face time, and trying to elude actual arrest. The failures keep coming, though. After all their efforts, the Democrats of the Texas Senate tried a 15-hour filibuster to block voter ID laws only to face plant yet again.
Debate on the measure began Wednesday evening before State Senator Carol Alvarado began speaking continuously without being able to lean on her desk, drink water, eat or use the restroom.
She wrapped just before 9 a.m. local time on Thursday.
Lawmakers in Texas's upper house voted 18-11 in favor of the bill aimed at enhancing election security shortly after she stopped.
Alvarado had a cute excuse for why voters should show their ID before renting an apartment, buying a six pack, voting.
'Instead of making it easier to vote, [this bill] makes it easier to intimidate. Instead of making it harder to cheat, it makes it harder to vote."
Question for Alvarado and anyone who thinks she's not full of ca-ca: doesn't everyone keep their ID in their wallet which they take with them everywhere? How is proving you are who you say you are making it harder to vote and easier to cheat? I am at a loss.
If you're wondering what self-important delusion looks like, here you go:
15 hrs ago I stood to filibuster #SB1 & give a voice to the constituents who this bill attempts to silence. I kno… https://t.co/798tEeLFCL— Carol Alvarado (@Carol Alvarado) 1628776727.0
Say it with me: America is a constitutional representative republic. NOT A DEMOCRACY.
Kudos to all the Democrats who pushed on after one failure then another then another only to succeed at failing yet again. I do appreciate the solid effort to paint basic ID showing as somehow greater threats to elections. Even though presenting ID for nearly everything is expected. It almost seems to me that Democrats don't want you to prove who you are before you vote. Because maybe then it would be easier to cheat a little bit. Harder to allow one vote per person if that person doesn't have to prove they've not voted once, twice, three times or more. Or even if they are who they say they are. Right?
Suggestion for the Texas Democrats: go to a state that doesn't have voter ID laws. And take your supporters with you.
Suggestions for the Texas Republicans: KEEP GOING!
