EXCELLENT: Switzerland Denies Vegan Citizenship. For 'Being Too Annoying'...
Most people can be generalized into two groups. Regular decent folk, and vegans (see CHILD ABUSE: Baby Hospitalized After Mother Forces "Vegan Diet" and Hospital Rescues Starving Baby From Vegan Parents). Dreadful creatures. Worse still are vegan immigrants who seek to invade countries and rid them of their sinful, meaty ways. Be cleansed, corpse crunchers!
Naturally, when Switzerland came across one of these vegetable-mouthed ninnies? They weren't having any of it. Her application for citizenship was promptly denied...
A Dutch vegan who applied for Swiss [citizenship] has had her application rejected.Ms Holten, a vegan and animal rights activist, has campaigned against the use of cowbells in the village and her actions have annoyed the locals. The resident's committee argued that if she does not accept Swiss traditions and the Swiss way of life, she should not be able to became an official national.
Ms Holten has also campaigned against a number of other Swiss traditions like hunting, pig races and the noisy church bells in town. The president of the local Swiss People's Party claimed Ms Holten has a "big mouth" and that residents did not want to grant her citizenship "if she annoys us and doesn't respect our traditions."
One can't help but feel giddy with delight at this. Switzerland's immigration policy is worthy of all the claps.
In this case, the townspeople didn't take too kindly to the vegan. Can't say I blame them since vegans tend to be cranky know-it-alls. Due to the lack of red meat and all. Holten felt entitled to citizenship, meanwhile, she actively campaigned to change the way the town and its people operates. They weren't impressed by this self-appointed vigilante. After all, why move to a place you don't like? All that tofu is getting to her head.
What's important here is the reason why she was rejected. It wasn't just the veganism, though that's grounds enough for the boot. It was because she refused to assimilate to the town's culture and instead opted to fight against it. As it turns out, some countries don't have to let everyone who waltzes across the border become a citizen. They can kick them out for any number of reasons. They call it... national security.
Again, in this case, the Dutch gal wouldn't make a good Swiss citizen. You know, on account of her hating the way Switzerland does things. She instead insisted on bringing her own anti-meat culture with her and tried to force it on everyone else too. Sound familiar (see After Islamic Refugee Influx, Germany Fights... To Keep Sausage on the Menu)?
Imagine if, say, Germany - or the rest of terror ravaged Europe - practiced this strictness regarding their immigration policies. Methinks there would be waaay less bacon-hating potential terrorists around...
