Watch: Teacher brags on TikTok about farting on students, doesn't understand why school fired him for it
If you take nothing else away from the following video and the collection of words I arranged before and after the video, I want it to be this. Somewhere in America, a teacher had to be asked by a school administrator how often he really passes gas near students.
Stephen Taylor is a stand-up comedian who, until recently, was also a teacher. Then he got in trouble over a TikTok video. Now, unlike most educators in America who brag about the subversive things they do to students because they don't understand how the Internet works, Taylor sounded like he was doing a bit.
He joked about how dumb students are -- okay, so maybe there is some truth behind the comedy -- and that he would tell them things like "Jake Paul and Logan Paul had a great-grandfather named Paul Revere" because, according to Taylor, the students don’t even know how names work.
Then he bragged about "crop dusting" the students. This is where the flatulence came in. Here, let Stephen explain:
@formerlyfatstephen heres the original video with my background edited out #fartgate #goodteacher #badstudent ♬ CROPDUST THE KIDS - Stephen Taylor
I found it funny. I'm also a child. And unlike Rep. AOC who lets them rip in congressional videos, I don't think the teacher ACKSHUALLY crop dusted anyone.
The school district, on the other hand, did not find it funny. The district wouldn’t comment on the matter to WDAF News, but provided a copy of their social media policy that teachers should maintain “the same level of personal responsibility, discretion, and professionalism expected in any other form of communication.”
It is a policy that Taylor claims is outdated. "The social media policies are designed for Myspace. They are years behind where we are currently at in the world, which is TikTok is alive and well, everyone is on it."
Taylor says the students were in on the joke. He comes across in the video to me that he's the type of teacher whose students would be in on the jokes. All the other bullsh*t that these districts put up with teachers saying, I don't think one joking about farts is worth termination.
