Ted Cruz letting the bodies hit the floor at senate hearings is our favorite Ted Cruz. To be clear, "Let the bodies hit the floor" is an expression and NOT a call to violent extremism. You have to use precision of language. It's a song lyric from "Bodies" by Drowning Pool. On occasion, that lyric is used as a literary device when describing a verbal beatdown as opposed to actually being in a mosh pit.

I have to be specific because while Cruz was grilling FBI Director Christopher Wray, he was asked about a whistleblower report that the feds consider certain symbols to be a gateway to domestic extremism. Those symbols? The Betsy Ross flag, the Gadsen flag, and the Gonzales battle flag... which I just learned today is the "Come and Take It Flag."

Ted Cruz as a Texan took exception to that one. And he was so angry, he took off his shoe.

"As a Texan, I was particularly struck by the Gonzales Battle Flag as indicative of being a violent extremist militia. Well, I will self-report right now that every day in the Senate I wear my boots that have the Gonzalez Battle Flag on the back."

Wray stammered and said they only "consider" those symbols among other possible pieces of evidence. But as Cruz pointed out, they don't consider Antifa or Black Lives Matter flags. That's because the FBI doesn't think you're a violent extremist when they agree with your political agenda.

Neither Cruz nor Wray said that last part. But I know that you know.

To recap, if it's patriotic it could be right-wing, domestic extremist. If it's socialist and you are burning cities down, it doesn't mean anything. And you wonder why so many Americans have lost faith in the FBI as an institution.
