An angry activist saw Ted Cruz eating sushi in Houston. The sight of a Republican senator eating food set him off, so he confronted Cruz. First, he posed for a photo. Then, he accused Cruz of literally having blood on his hands literally. Not for eating sushi. The blood comes from Cruz speaking at an NRA conference. Next to Roe v. Wade, the left's decades-long disinformation campaign against the NRA has been their most successful.

We've seen this performative activism playbook utilized numerous times. Something horrendous happens. First, the left blames an inanimate object. Then they blame elected officials who don't vote for whatever random legislation the left claims is the one and only fix. When that inanimate object is a gun, the NRA gets thrown in there.

That's been the left's decades-long disinformation campaign. They can't pass gun control and/or take guns away (depending on if there are cameras around to hear them talk out loud) because the NRA and "gun lobby" give politicians money. Not NEARLY as much as the pharmaceutical lobby or the Big Labor lobby gives politicians. But that money goes to Democrats, so the media doesn't care.

CBS News' John Dickerson is the only reporter I've heard be honest about the NRA's "power": "And the key point is [members of Congress] representing their district. The NRA spends a lot of money supporting politicians, but that money is related to the feeling of the people in the district. So it is not just dollar bills. It is also the power of the voters in those districts."

As for our slacktivist here yelling at Ted Cruz, good for you. You got a lot of retweets and attaboys on social media, and the media is praising you as a hero. Nothing was accomplished. No hearts nor minds were changed. But you went viral.

If he would have yelled at the Uvalde Chief of Police, who is an alleged Beto Donor, for the incompetent response to the shooting, there could very well be bipartisan agreement. Maybe next time.

I can't help but wonder what the media reaction would be if instead of "Indivisible Houston," it was "Ultra-MAGA Schenectady." And they were yelling at Chuck Schumer for blocking a vote on Republicans' school safety bill. And the ultra-MAGA activists confronted Schumer in a public place.

Call me crazy, but I don't think that person would be praised by the internet and the media. It would be the opposite.
