Republicans on Wednesday were successful in blocking Democrats' "Corrupt Politicians Act" in the Senate. It's commonly referred to in the media as the "For the People Act" and is claimed to be for voting "reform." Republicans were able to filibuster the bill from being debated. Not unlike when Chuck Schumer led other white Democrats to filibuster African-American Senator Tim Scott's police reform bill in 2020.

Prior to the filibuster, each senator had the opportunity to give a speech. Ted Cruz used his time to find common ground with his colleagues. He agreed that there is in fact a "Jim Crow 2.0." Just not the way Democrats think.

Jim Crow legislation was grotesque and ugly. It was legislation that was drafted without exception by Democratic politicians. Jim Crow was written by Democratic politicians, and its purpose, when the Jim Crow laws were written, were to prevent the voters from ever voting out of office Democratic politicians. Well, the majority leader used the phrase Jim Crow 2.0, and inadvertently he's right. ... He's right about the "Corrupt Politicians Act." The "Corrupt Politicians Act" follows the exact same pattern that Jim Crow did.

Jim Crow 2.0 is what Joe Biden was fond of calling the infamous Atlanta voter integrity bill because that's what Stacey Abrams told him to say. Ironically enough, the same Stacey Abrams who recently came out in favor of voter ID laws. it is unclear if supporting voter ID makes Abrams racist now. I think Democrats are currently waiting for polling to come back to let them know what they think.

The debate now moves to CNN and Twitter, where people who thought the filibuster was BAE during the Trump and Bush years argue that it's racist and should be abolished. But for the time being, the Demcrats' soggy dream to nationally take over elections has been put on hold.
