There's been talk of a grand immigration deal where we trade Democrats DACA for a border wall, ending chain migration, and a reform to be named later (see This Democrat Senator AGREES with Trump? 'We DO Need a Wall.'). That's all just talk if Ted Cruz has his way.

On Thursday he blasted the idea. While he didn't specifically mention the rumored Trump deal, he was totally talking about the rumored Trump deal.

I do not believe we should be granting a path to citizenship to anybody here illegally. Doing so is inconsistent with the promises we made to the men and women who elected us.

For some reason that to me is utterly inexplicable, we see Republicans falling all over themselves to gallop to the left of Obama in a way that is contrary to the promises made to the voters who elected us. We need to honor the promises we made. And that is what I am energetically urging my colleagues to do.

So instead of #SchumerShutdown2: Electric Boogaloo (see Uh Oh! Dreamers Turn on Chuck Schumer, Show Up at His House. There's Video...), are we looking at Shutdown 2: Attack of the Cruz? Unclear, the future is.

It's also unclear exactly what Donald Trump will sign in a deal. He could sign a Taco Bell menu if you put a "Beautiful Immigration Wall Reform" cover on it. That's the new normal, lately.

What is clear is that we'll all be back to the same corners in a few weeks. Rest up.
