'I'm Not Ready to Give Up on America:' What Ted Cruz REALLY Said About Texas Secession, President Joe Rogan
The words "Ted Cruz," "Texas" and "secession" have found their way into mainstream media headlines. Usually involving some version of Cruz floating the idea, toying with, or literally agreeing that Texas should secede from America. When what really happened is that, at a YAF event at Texas A&M (gig 'em), Cruz was asked "in a very weird what-if scenario" what would happen IF Texas seceded. Ted Cruz didn't jump into the audience and punch the kid in the nuts, telling him his question was stupid. In mainstream media-eese, that means Cruz supports secession. Or something like that. Also, there was a bit about President Joe Rogan.
We all know how Twitter trends get when people only read headlines. So, here is the FULL SEGMENT of the question and how Ted Cruz answered it. This video should be time-coded, but if not it comes in at the 1:18:00 mark.
Come and Vax It | Verdict with Ted Cruz LIVE at Texas A&Myoutu.be
"I think Texas has a responsibility to the country, and I'm not ready to give up on America. I love this country[...] Texas, we're brash. We're not shy. We're sometimes larger than life. But Texas is right now is an amazing force keeping America from going off the cliff. Keeping America grounded on the values that built this country. On the values of freedom. I think we have a responsibility."
He then offered a HUGE caveat on, if he were to change his mind, it might be after the following:
"If the Democrats end the filibuster, if they fundamentally destroy the country, if they pack the supreme court, if they make DC a state, if they federalize elections and massively expand voter fraud, there MAY come a point where it's hopeless. We're not there yet. "
He then joked if it became hopeless, Texas takes NASA and the oil. Also, all hail Texas President Joe Rogan. If it's me, I'm voting for President Josh Abbott. But if it comes down to an American conscious uncoupling, I'll probably be in Florida living under President Ron DeSantis and Vice-President Dave Portnoy.
But, no. Ted Cruz didn't "tease" Texas leaving America. No matter how much leftist media elites wish it would.
