These Thugs Tried to Rob the Wrong Elderly Gun Owner
My favorite "good guy with a gun" stories are the ones with an elderly gun owner (see Gun-toting Grandma Shoots Man Exposing Himself to Children and This Gun Totin’ Grandma has a Warning to Her Home Invader). Any time someone's MeeMaw or PopPop shows a youngblood what's up.
This story takes us to Alabama. Roll Tide.
After spotting Travis Carter, 30, and Craig Cumbie, 51, leaving his garage with stolen property, the homeowner fired a warning shot into the air, police told the station.Cops told WKRG that Carter and Cumbie jumped into their vehicle and drove toward the homeowner in an attempt to get away — and the victim saw Carter hanging out of the vehicle with what appeared to be a weapon.
As you might expect, the homeowner wasn’t in the mood to get mowed down by the vehicle or whatever it was that Carter may have been holding, so police told the station the homeowner fired a shot that struck Carter in the head.
Suck it, thugs. If you thought jacking someone's goods was a swell way to start your day, and mowing a man over with your car was a decent solution, you probably deserved to get capped. No one will cry for you. Actions, consequences, trigger pulls. Thou shalt not threaten an old geezer with nothing left to lose and only one epic story to tell his youngin grandbabes.
Bigger point: note our suspender-wearing (probably) hero had to act in the moment. He did not have time to whip out his Jitterbug phone to dial 9-1-1 to say "Excuse me, but two assholes are trying to run me over, send the Po-Po." No. Instead, the man took action and saved himself. Thank you, Second Amendment!
Now leave the man alone so he can get back to watching Matlock.
