This Father Issues Epic Takedown of Target's 'Bathroom Policy'
Target has always been on the cutting edge (or the forefront of pandering) over "gender fluidity issues," so it came as no shock when they decided to insert themselves in the transgender bathroom debate. Good news for Target shoppers! If you have a penis, you can take it in to any bathroom you want!
Fathers like Izzy Avraham who have daughters? They have questions...
So we got to Target and introduced ourselves to the manager. I asked her on a practical level how Target's policy worked out if my six-year-old daughter walked into the women's restroom and someone with a biologically male body walked in behind her. She said Target has always had a policy of non-discrimination, and that if parents had concerns we could use the family rooms, or Tirzah could come in the men's washroom with me. I told her that as a concerned dad, I'm uncomfortable with Target's decision to allow people with male bodies in the women's washrooms. And that we think it's weird. We thanked her and left. I kept the whole conversation really polite and as relaxed as possible. So here's what so wrong about this. Target's recent 'inclusivity' announcement concludes by saying "Everyone deserves to feel like they belong. And you’ll always be accepted, respected and welcomed at Target." Really? Telling me you're ok with men walking into the bathroom behind my baby girl actually doesn't make me feel like I belong. It didn't make her feel like she belonged either, to hear the manager tell us that in person. Basically Target just told us - and millions of concerned parents - that we're no longer accepted, respected, and welcome in their stores.
He then goes on to say that he's not angry or hateful. He just doesn't want his daughter to be uncomfortably forced to share a bathroom with grown men. To the rational person, this seems entirely reasonable. Naturally, leftists simply accuse him of bigotry.
Keep in mind that this is Target we're talking about. The same store that kicked out Salvation Army Santa/Bell-ringers. Granted, they claimed it had nothing to do with the Christmasy-Salvationy theme, but their store solicitation policy. No word yet on their stance regarding "solicitation" in the bathrooms. George Michael, here's your window.
Again, we find ourselves at the same conflict. Reasonable arguments like this must be dismissed as "transphobia" by the current left. Just as arguments against Obama's policy had to be dismissed as racist. Or arguments against an overreach of SCOTUS had to be dismissed as homophobia.
It's expected, and wouldn't be so grating if the left didn't turn around tomorrow and demand "an end to political polarization!" Listen, at this juncture, I'm okay with polarization. You don't get to call someone a racist, sexist homophobe or call for their jailing (read "Bill Nye Wants Jail for Climate Change Skeptics" here) and then pretend that you want to place nice. Watch the fall-out to this Facebook post. This man expressed an opinion, the left will try to destroy his life. Bookmark this site, and come back for the updates. It will happen.
