Tim Allen Brilliantly Explains Why President Trump is Succeeding
Tim Allen gets a lot of questions about Donald Trump. Obviously becase as a comedian and entertainer, he's single-handedly expected to hold politics aloft. It's the newest leftist edict, don't you know (see ‘Last Man Standing’ Cast Makes Video Thanking Fans For Revival and Last Man Standing Trailer Shows FIRST New Scenes from Show). All people, especially entertainers who just want to entertain, must be asked for their opinions on Trump at all times. Just because Trumpity Trumpy Trump.
However, I thought his answer on why Trump's succeeding was one of the best I've heard. And why even Trump agnostics don't criticize as much as the media would like us to.
I’ve met [Trump] at the charity event years ago, and that certainly doesn’t fit with the man who tweets. I’ve met a lot of people in private whose public persona is a bit off. My perception is “let’s see what he gets done.” Let’s stop banging on the pilot’s door and trying to pull the guy out of his seat while he’s still flying. You might not like how he’s flying the plane but let’s let him land it. Do I like him or agree with him? … I don’t know.Somebody got this NAFTA thing done. How did that happen? It’s like a slight of hand with this dude. There’s this smoke and smelly food but over here he just fixed a pothole. The theater of this is fascinating. He doesn’t do it very attractively but you don’t even realize the economy is doing better. Is it? There’s so much drama. Maybe it took this type of guy to get stuff done because it was so stuck in the mud. I’m just watching the theater of it and trying to keep my personal opinions out of it. What difference does it make whether I like him?
Valid points. He's right about the successes. The main problem for Trump is people keeping their personal opinions of his persona at the ballot boxes. With voters, it's like the reverse Shapiro. Feelings don't care about your facts.
Most people are busy making a living and raising a family. They aren't as deep into the hourly news cycles as some of us may be. People may not realize the economy is getting better. However, when it comes time for them to vote, they may remember Trump claiming the Puerto Rico hurricane death toll is just a Democrat conspiracy.
So there's an issue with Trump "not doing it very attractively." Just like the 2010 and 2014 midterms were about people voting against Obama more than it was their individual representative.
