This the last season for Last Man Standing, starring Tim Allen, one of the few conservatives granted permission to live out loud in Hollywood. It was one of the few shows where right-leaning viewpoints were shown as something other than evil and demonic. The butt of the jokes was usually his leftist son-in-law. Or explaining the truth about socialism slowly enough so that the Bernie Sanders stans could follow. Then Donald Trump got elected, and the show was canceled for reasons I'm sure weren't coincidental. It came back for two seasons on FOX, but it was never as good.

Allen was quiet about Trump for most of his term. One could assume he maybe got a talking-to from Disney executives. Turns out, he just enjoyed watching Trump be Trump as much as we did! Allen joined Marc Maron's "WTF Podcast" to opine more.

I've just not joined into as I call it the "we culture." I'm not telling anybody else how to live. I don't like that, like we should do this or we should do that. And once I realized that the last president pissed people off, I kind of liked that. So it was fun to just not say anything. I didn't join in the "lynching crowd."

Here's the thing, though. Tim Allen enjoyed watching Donald Trump piss people off. Mike Baxter, as per everything we know about the character, would enjoy watching Donald Trump piss people off. It would have been enjoyable to SEE Mike Baxter enjoying Donald Trump pissing people off. Which would piss off the left at large. Which would also be enjoyable. I might have remembered the show still existed, other than my DVR still recording from when the show was at its peak.

Instead, the show this season leaped ahead five years so that they didn't have to talk about the pandemic. Such wittiness. Much comedy.
