Sports Media Pressures Tom Brady to Talk Trump. He Has None of It...
Even as Tom Brady is set to lead the New England Patriots to a Superbowl, reporters are still focused on Trump. All they want to talk about is Brady being alleged friends with Trump (see Liberals Demand You Boycott Patriots for Connections to Trump and Media Pressures Tom Brady to Speak About Trump). So while Brady wants to talk football, the sports media is all, "Trumpity Trumpy Trump Trump Trump!"
This is an hour interview. Brady is asked Trump questions throughout, but toward the end, he finally has enough.
The quarterback clarified with USA Today Sports...
"If people want to take sides, you know, they can obviously do that. It’s everyone’s right. They have a right to do that. And I have a right to stay out of it, too. I want to keep my focus on where it should be for me at this moment. I’m trying to be the best that I can be for my team. And I don’t want to bring any distractions to our team. I don’t want to bring any negativity to our team. We have enough of that as it is."
Reasonable. He's a football player. He's going to the Superbowl on Sunday. He wants to focus on the Superbowl. Which is Sunday. Because he plays in it. As a quarterback. They're the guys who throw the ball. Sometimes they pass the ball. But Brady, he likes to throw them. Also, he's going to play in a big game on Sunday. It's the Superbowl. Kind of a big deal. Oh, before I forget, Tom Brady? He's a quarterback for the New England Patriots. They're playing against the Atlanta Falcons in the Superbowl. It's on Sunday.
But that's not what the SPORTS media wants to discuss. Sorry, Tommy. If it advances the leftist agenda, you don't have a right to not have an opinion. And even then, you only have the right to have the leftist opinion. Those are the rules. I know, confusing. Since you spend most of your time playing football. But I don't want to repeat myself.
By the by, media figures who stray from their area of expertise to obnoxiously opine about politics? Well it's one reason we got Trump. Just as an FYI.
