The following post was written in December 2020, in the height of SCHMOVID insanity. Audio of Tom Cruise freaking out is making another round around the internets with the release of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One this weekend.

It was December in 2020. Ava Max ruled the airwaves. And old Bill and Ted attempted to make was laugh again but failed., And we here at the Louder with Crowder Dot Com website wrote the following:

'Tis the season! No, not for the holidays or the birth of our Savior. That too! But 'tis the season for people freaking the f*ck out over social distancing guidelines. Lately, we've seen it as people are Christmas shopping. Or yelling at people trying to Christmas shop. Now, we have it from Scientology aficionado Tom Cruise, melting down on the set of whatever Mission Impossible they are up to.

No apologies! You can tell it to the people that are losing their f*cking homes because our industry is shut down! It's not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education! That's what I sleep with every night! The future of this f*cking industry!

In this instance, he has something of a point. Also, an unhealthy delusion of grandeur. I doubt Tom Cruise loses sleep over the future of any industry or anything other than how much he's pleasing Xenu. Or if certain rumors come out in the press. But if someone pops positive for COVID, the entire production shuts down. If the entire production shuts down, the crew members can't work. Anyone on the set who has a problem with those guidelines should have dealt with that before taking the job. I can understand Cruise's freakout.

Now, one could argue the reason for these restrictions is the fearmongering in the media, as well as from Cruise's celebrity colleagues with #WeAreAllInThisTogether in their Instagram bios. But Facebook's "fact" "checkers" have an itchy deplatform finger lately. I'll save that argument for another time.

Update: Cruise also, allegedly, hired robots to enforce guidelines as well. There was also that.
