One of the worst things “the experts” did during the Panny D was force a one-size-fits-all approach to the masses, and the best health measures for you were supposedly the best approach for everyone else. However, the only problem with that is that it’s pseudoscientific, at best, or “the science,” if you will. And when you add draconian, anti-science lockdowns to the mess, you get this story.

A New Jersey gym owner refused to acquiesce to the draconian, and likely unconstitutional, lockdown orders to close his gym. However, “the experts” don’t like it when people become defiant. Subsequently, Ian Smith and co-owner Frank Trumbetti faced more than 80 charges totaling more than $1.2 million. Because of “the science” or whatever…..

According to The Epoch Times:

Mr. Smith and Mr. Trumbetti racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines—including a $15,000 per day fine—for keeping their gym open in defiance of a state-wide order instructing non-essential businesses to close during the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020.

The two men had argued that they had implemented a range of safety protocols at the gym and had only found a single case of the virus that could be traced back to the health facility, despite receiving upward of 84,000 visits.

Kind of bizarre how two random gym owners had more success in mitigating “the spread” than bureaucratic “experts.”

However, state officials held steady with the fines, and in December 2021, Mr. Smith said they amounted to more than $1.2 million for violating the public health emergency rules, although he stressed he had no intention of paying them.

The two men were later arrested and charged on multiple counts, including one count of fourth-degree contempt, one count of obstruction, and one count of violation of a disaster control act, among others.

Exercise is one of the most effective treatments for mental health disorders, and is 1.5 times more effective in reducing anxiety and depression compared to medication. So when you dramatically uproot people's lives, lock them down in their homes as de facto prisoners, and tell them they’re not essential enough to leave, you get a recipe for disaster that is not the least bit beneficial to one’s overall health.

So at a time when uncertainty and anxiety are running high among the masses, one of the worst things “experts” could have done was close the gym. And that’s exactly what they did, because of “the science.” And there's not an ounce of evidence to suggest that helped anyone, in any way. Especially because all of that was arbitrary and someone, somewhere, just made it up out of thin air.

Correction: The Panny D did help a broad, faceless entity, also known as Big Pharma. And shocker - there was a significant increase in antidepressant prescriptions after the pandemic’s onset, including 63 percent in young adults and adolescents.

But none of that mattered as long as the left was beholden to “the science.” It didn’t matter that officials essentially caused a mental health crisis and deaths related to alcohol, drugs, and suicide dramatically increased. None of that matters to the left. And for the record, all that was predictable. It doesn't take a medical degree or a bureaucratic job to know that keeping healthy people in isolation is one of the worst things you can do for health.

And it’s quite comical, yet incredibly tyrannical, that “health” officials tried to label this blatant act of disobedience as contempt, obstruction, and violation of a disaster control act. Especially considering that their version of “disaster control” creates more disasters. And the harm was so predictable it’s hard to believe this wasn’t by design.

Hopefully, next time, and there will likely be a next time, as we are constantly being told the next Panny D is coming, people won’t acquiesce to tyrannical demands that don’t do anything but destroy public health.
