Today’s show breaks down the alleged third assassination attempt on Trump after suspect Vem Miller was let out on bail, according to Riverside County California Sheriff Chad Bianco.
Bianco said he believes the police department “prevented another assassination attempt.”
According to the New York Post:
Miller, 49, was caught at a police checkpoint allegedly trying to enter the rally with a phony press pass. When cops noticed his car was unregistered, they searched the vehicle and discovered a cache of fake passports and driver’s licenses, along with a shotgun, a loaded handgun and a high-capacity magazine, officials said.
He was soon booked on weapons charges, and sprung after posting $5,000 bail, but the sheriff turned around and told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that his department had all but saved Trump’s life.
Federal agencies, however, appear to disagree.
The Secret Service believes it unlikely Miller was attempting to assassinate the president, and the FBI is not investigating it as such, sources told The Post, noting Miller is a member of an anti-government far-right group and probably had the weapons for personal defense alone.
“This is one of those issues where the media pulled the trigger too early,” Crowder said. “It seems like he has been constantly pro-Trump and is a misunderstanding.”
Miller claims the "accusations are complete bulls-t," adding that he is "the last person that would cause any violence and harm to anybody."
“The US Secret Service assesses that the incident did not impact protective operations and former President Trump was not in any danger,” the agency and the FBI said in a joint statement. “While no federal arrest has been made at this time, the investigation is ongoing.”
"Bianco seems to be one of the guys who jumps the gun quite a bit and inserts himself in any political issue and it seems like maybe the media would like to use this to try and say 'this is the radicalizing of Trump supporters," Crowder said. "There is a lot of misinformation and it's really hard to parse through what's true."
Although the FBI’s word is less credible than it used to be, they do not believe the evidence suggests what Bianco alleged.
“It’s just a guy who probably just had some weird stuff in his car,” Crowder added.
