Watch: Here are the media claims about the Trump/Putin call vs. THE TRUTH
Yesterday, Trump spoke with Putin about a potential ceasefire with Ukraine. Today’s show breaks down the misleading claims the media has made.
According to Fox News:
President Donald Trump described his nearly two-hour phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin Tuesday at the White House as "great" during an exclusive interview with "The Ingraham Angle," as he continues to pursue a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
The conversation between Trump and Putin comes amid efforts to mediate an end to the war after Ukrainian officials agreed to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire earlier in March.
"[We] talked about a lot of things — toward getting it to peace, and we talked about other things also," Trump said, referring to Russia’s three-year war against Ukraine.
According to Jimmy Kimmel, Trump got nothing out of this phone call and was played by Putin.
"Not only did President Trump not get played by Putin, but there were quantifiable victories," Crowder said.
This includes swapping 372 prisoners of war. Russia will also transfer 23 severely wounded soldiers and has agreed to halt attacks on Ukrainian energy for at least 30 days.
Moscow returned 175 Ukrainian POWs, as well as "22 seriously wounded prisoners of war in need of urgent medical assistance", while Kyiv returned 175 Russian troops, it said.
"That's a big deal," Crowder said. "You may not think it's enough but to say he got screwed is just not accurate."
Several people on X have also claimed that Trump waited over an hour for the phone call.
"That is not what happened," Crowder said.
However, the joke was about Peskov, Putin’s press secretary, not Trump. He made no mention of Trump at all in the clip.
"The media is not acting in your best interest if they are lying to you," Crowder said. "Why do the lies always line up on one side of the aisle to make Trump look weak?”
