Trump Wants Race Summit with Kanye...and Colin Kaepernick?
President Trump wants to hold a race summit with various famous people to discuss race issues. Obviously, Kanye West is on the guest list. After all, he and Trump are BFFs now. Also on the guest list is *squints at notes* Colin Kaepernick.
Yes, that Colin Kaepernick (see Gold Star Mom Responds to Colin Kaepernick: ‘Shame on you…’ and Colin Kaepernick Parody Skewers Idiotic Anthem Protest…). Invited to the White House. To sit with Donald Trump. Season three of Trump: The White House is gonna be lit!
President Donald Trump has given the green light to multiple meetings with athletes and musical artists to discuss race, Cleveland-based pastor Darrell Scott, an outside adviser to the White House adviser, tells PEOPLE.Kanye West, who recently had a Twitter love-fest with Trump, has been invited, says Scott, along with former NFL star Colin Kaepernick and other athletes and musicians of multiple races and ethnicities.
Kaepernick, of course, is the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who famously initiated a wave of protests by professional athletes in 2016 when he knelt during the national anthem before NFL games as a protest against injustice against African-Americans, especially police shootings of unarmed black men and teens. Trump, as a presidential candidate, vilified Kaepernick, saying, “Maybe he should find a country that works better for him.” And later, as president, Trump said players who kneel for the anthem should be fired.
Oh, this is going to be good.
We'll see if Kaepernick is invited and actually shows up to the race summit. Then we'll see how the conversation between Colin and Trump unfolds. The latter of whom has a habit of agreeing with whoever spoke to him last (see WATCH: Trump Discusses Ban on AR-15s and Confiscation. Without Due Process… and Senator Ben Sasse Savages President Trump’s Due Process Comments).
Before we know it, the Donald will be throwing black power fists and kneeling during the anthem at Barron's soccer games.
Here I thought there wouldn't be any good TV on during the summer.
