Trump Signs Executive Action Against Obamacare
Trump just signed an executive order which slashes some of the debilitating regulations of Obamacare. Cheaper insurance? More affordable premiums? Buying insurance across state lines? According to Trump, all coming.
Watch:
The executive order directs the departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and Treasury to take steps to make it easier for people to band together and buy coverage through what is known as "association health plans." It also would allow people to buy low-cost, short-term health insurance plans, which the Obama administration limited to three months, and would expand the use of health savings accounts. The process will take several months and will not go into effect in time for open enrollment, which runs from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15.
So this just gets the proverbial ball rolling. We've heard about the "We've gotta repeal and replace Obamacare!" for years. Yet when the American people finally gave Republicans the power to repeal and replace Obamacare...
Uh huh. It's one reason a lot of us despise a lot of politicians. Who're all talk, no action.
This executive order essentially creates options, which encourages competition. Competition means lower prices for consumers. It's good news for group healthcare plans, health savings accounts, and again lower prices. Which is, again, good for consumers. If the left believes "healthcare is a human right" then allowing more humans to access that right should be priority one.
Alas, predictably the left is having conniption fits. Because freedom of consumer choice? NEIN! Unless the government is the one granting the "rights" it's not "real" healthcare.
Trump's new executive order could represent the administration’s biggest threat to Obamacare yet.… https://t.co/Bps8wAEPD7— Vox (@Vox) 1507827833.0
Good! Threatening Obamacare is kind of like threatening Harvey Weinstein. I'm all for it.
President Trump’s health care executive order may seem a little complicated so let me break it down: It’s sabotage.— Tim Kaine (@Tim Kaine) 1507822336.0
Well slap me sideways, anything that sabotages a disaster is aces.
After failing to convince the American people & the majority of Senators, Trump is now forcing Trumpcare via executive order. It's sabotage.— Sen. Cory Booker (@Sen. Cory Booker) 1507823487.0
Hey, there's that "sabotage" word again. I bet that'll be the word they all use.
