Watch: Trump's "Liberation Day" is coming, and here's how the tariffs will affect your family
According to the left, you should be terrified about what’s to come as a result of these tariffs. Today’s show breaks down how this will actually affect your family.
“This is directly aimed at China,” Crowder said. “China has been taking advantage of a huge loophole.”
Last week, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on automobile imports. This is intended to strengthen the manufacturing industry in America while also “taking action to end unfair trade practices that jeopardize U.S. national security,” according to the White House.
A 2024 economic analysis found that a global tariff of 10% would grow the economy by $728 billion, create 2.8 million jobs, and increase real household incomes by 5.7%.
According to Northern Trust, “The backdoor is not as simple as shipping to an alternate port. Trans-shipments, or goods passing directly through Mexico to the U.S., are identified and tariffed. Instead, raw materials like metals are traveling from China to Mexico, to be processed and finished for export to the U.S.”
Subsequently, the products are then labeled “made in Mexico.”
"China has been gaming the system, and unfortunately, Canada and Mexico have been too compliant," Crowder said. "'Made in Mexico' can mean 'Made in China.'"
According to the White House, "President Trump’s decision to implement tariffs on imports of automobiles and automobile parts will protect and strengthen the U.S. automotive sector."
“Capitalism ceases to be if it realizes slave labor,” Crowder said. “When people say you need illegal immigrants to do these jobs, it's like saying ‘We need Blacks to pick this cotton.’”
The same can be said for Chinese children working in factories.
“It’s slavery,” Crowder said. “There needs to be a correction. Free enterprise cannot exist unless you want to live the same lifestyle as people do in these other countries.”
So, while there will be some “short-term pain,” it makes sense for Trump to do this in the long run.
"You will see some growing pains, and things will stabilize for the midterms," Crowder said.
