CLEANUP: Trump Fires 500 From VA, Suspends 200 More...
Veterans Affairs under Obama had their priorities messed up at best (see VA Hospital Gives Priority to Transgenders. Even Over… Sanitizing Equipment?! and Priorities? Vets Wait Months for Treatment. VA Hospitals Spend $20 Million on Art…). At worst? People died waiting for care. Donald Trump's VA on the other hand? Clean up on aisle six!
Five hundred and forty-eight Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) employees have been terminated since President Donald Trump took office, indicating that his campaign pledge to clean up “probably the most incompetently run agency in the United States” by relentlessly putting his TV catch phrase “you’re fired” into action was more than just empty rhetoric.Another 200 VA workers were suspended and 33 demoted, according to data newly published by the department as part of VA Secretary David Shulkin’s commitment to greater transparency. Those disciplined include 22 senior leaders, more than 70 nurses, 14 police officers, and 25 physicians.
How we haven't used that GIF yet, I have no idea. It's a momentous occasion that's been long awaited. But far more momentous and waited for? The VA finally getting the reboot it sorely needs. Clearing out incompetent personnel is the first step to improving what's currently the DMV of healthcare.
Kudos to President Trump for following through on his promises here. It's worth noting his pledges were more than mere empty gas bubbles released in a frantic campaign speech (see WIN! Trump Cuts Regulations MAJORLY With Latest Executive Order and Pro-Life Win! Trump Reverses Obama's Abortion Funding Overseas). The suffering abomination that is the current Department of Veterans Affairs will take some time to perfect, but this is a giant leap in the right direction.
Here's looking forward to the President following through on his other promises toosies...
