The average annual in-state cost to attend UC Berkeley is over $40,000 and with financial aid tuition averages just above $15,000. Thirty years ago, that price was $3,969. That greatly surpasses the inflation rates. So students are paying artificially inflated costs for an “education” that is increasingly getting worse. And on top of that, the school is run by a bunch of progressive freaks.

Similar to cities that are run by progressives, you pay a ridiculously high price to reside there while the quality of life decreases in every way. So it’s not a surprise that a progressive-run school, in a progressive-run area, where a bunch of progressive students are voting in more progress ruin, will result in a dystopian increase of crime while the cost of everything goes up.

And that, my friends, is exactly what is happening at UC Berkeley.

A bunch of parents realized this only after they sent their kids to one of the wokest universities in the world. Subsequently, they raised over $40,000 to hire security guards in a desperate attempt to decrease the epidemic of lawlessness that was likely preventable and would not have happened had residents voted in more people who think that criminals should be punished for crime, rather than rewarded.

University of California at Berkeley students are seeing more security officers on campus this month after a group of frustrated parents said they raised the money to hire them.

Parents with the group Safe Bears hired six private security guards, or “safety ambassadors,” to patrol the campus from 6:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., according to the group’s website.

Sagar Jethani, a parent of twin boys at UC Berkeley, told CBS News concerned parents took matters into their own hands after the university ignored their repeated requests.

“The fact is if they’re not going to act, despite repeated pleas from parents and students to take more substantial action, then we’re going to act,” Jethani said. “We’re going to do what needs to be done to keep our family safe.”

The additional security began March 6 and will continue through March 23, according to the Safe Bears website. The parents raised more than $40,000 to fund it, the website states.

Among the parents’ concerns are a 20 percent increase in local robberies, trespassers gaining access to residence halls, threats, and violence, according to the Safe Bears website.

It is unclear if any of these parents voted for any of the elected officials who defunded the police department by $10 million. But if they weren't, it is unclear if their kids are among the 10,000 students who signed a petition to defund the police. But we are not here to victim blame if any of that is the case. However, it is only fair to point out that Stockholm syndrome among Leftist voters is a very common thing.

The university told CBS News in a statement that it is adding more surveillance cameras and new community service officers trained by campus police, and it may hire more police officers in the future.

Students being robbed at gunpoint at unprecedented levels and a 20 percent increase in crime is not enough for administrators to guarantee more officers. The best the parents get is a "maybe, we will think about." Unclear as to how much the crime rate has to increase before school officials pretend to care.

That said, paying more money than is needed for a downpayment on a house to increase your chances of being robbed at gunpoint while graduating dumber, sounds like a bad business move if you ask me. But add the cost of living, cost of tuition, and $40,000 every three weeks and you get a Bachelors of Arts degree from UC Berkley.
