If there's one word that comes to mind when you read or hear the word Uvalde it's "cowardice." It was a tragedy exacerbated by the cowardice of over 400 law enforcement officers who failed to do their jobs and chose instead to let a bunch of innocent children and two teachers just die.

But there were also those who wanted to rush in, who were unconcerned with themselves and desired to save others. There were several of these stories coming out: the mother who rushed in for her children, the border patrol agent who left an unfinished haircut and borrow a shotgun to run to the school, or the local man who just wanted to protect those kids.

There was also an officer who arrived on the scene ready to rush into the school and stop the shooter who had shot his wife. He had received a call from her, telling him she was bleeding out. But when he arrived, the other officers turned him around and took his gun. Now, there's bodycam footage of it, courtesy of Daily Mail.

You can tell he's confused. I would be, too. Then again, I would have shot them all in the kneecaps if they had attempted to turn me away. I imagine he thought they were just about to go in or something. But they didn't. And now she's dead.

Uvalde is a cautionary tale, illustrating exactly what happens when we depend on others for protection. Those people aren't always willing to do any protecting. And, what's more, they aren't all too ready to allow others to protect people, either. And so long as those pansies wear badges, well, they kind of how authority, don't they.
