Cody Briseno works at a funeral home across from Robb Elementary School. He was the first to confront the gunman after the gunman crashed his truck. Once the gunman ran toward the school, Briseno called his wife to bring his gun so he could try and stop the man. According to Briseno, police stopped him from acting.

In an extended interview on the NBC News website, Briseno said he called his wife and asked her to bring his gun. Once she did, Briseno ran toward the school. He was stopped by the police.

"Hey, what are you doing," an officer asked as Briseno began to march toward the school, he said. He recalls responding, "I'm going to go in and try to stop them."

Briseno told the police the shooter was already in the school. Police prevented Briseno from doing anything, and told him to "shut up."

This is, of course, according to Briseno. He did not want to name what department the officer was from, and NBC News didn't provide the officer's side of the story. However, the lack of response and testicles from the Uvalde police has been called into question. We also have a story of them handcuffing a mother who drove forty minutes while the shooting was going on and while police weren't stopping the shooting. Those two stories cover incompetence during and after the shooting. Draw your own conclusions about this alleged incompetence prior to the shooting.

Ultra-liberal anti-gun activists point to the police response and say the incident disproves the "good guy with a gun" theory, where a good guy with a gun will stop a bad guy with a gun. The belief is that the cops were the "good guys" with guns who didn't stop a gunman for over an hour. It's bullsh*t.

Briseno is a good guy with a gun. The border patrol agent who borrowed a shotgun, ran into the school, and took out the shooter, is a good guy with a gun. You are not a "good guy" if you stand around doing nothing while kids are being killed, regardless of if you are armed or not. You're a bad guy if you actively stop good guys from acting.
