Over fifty veterans were on their way home from Washington, DC, when one was informed he would be unable to fly due to "safety concerns." So, the others said they weren't going to fly home either. As one said, "No veteran left behind."

The group was organized by Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Freedom Tour. It's a non-profit that takes veterans on tours of memorials all throughout the country.

KOTV-TV reports that while they were boarded, one of the veterans' oxygen concentrators ran out of batteries. It couldn't be charged using American Airlines' electrical outlets on the plane, either. Per company policy (and in the interest of safety), the veteran was told he would be unable to fly. So, his comrades said, "we won't be flying either."

"We just decided that you know what, we are going to go off the plane also if he's going off. If they're gonna take him off, the whole bunch was gonna go off."

Unlike a lot of recent airline stories (including one about American Airlines), American was very accommodating. They booked hotels for all the veterans. The next morning, they had extra batteries flown in and booked the veterans on their own charted flight.
