VIDEO: A Look at Why Trump Won by the Former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper
Before the Canadian prime minister was a walking pile of soy and hair product (see WATCH: What Would Jordan Peterson Say to Justin Trudeau? and Canadian Pansy Justin Trudeau Says ‘Diversity is Our Strength!’), there was Stephen Harper. A conservative in Canada. No, surprisingly enough, Crowder was not the only one.
The former prime minister just cut a video for PragerU looking at why Donald Trump won. Because based on leftist behavior, it seems people still don't get why Trump smashed Hillary. So let's review.
Were you shocked at the results of the 2016 American presidential election? Most people were, but Stephen Harper was not one of them. Here, the former Prime Minister of Canada explains the trends that foreshadowed Trump’s victory and left many political elites looking wildly out of touch.
This quote stands out because it's a key difference between the right and left:
"We can pretend this is a false perception. We can keep trying to convince people that they misunderstand their own lives. Or we can try to understand what they are saying and offer some solutions."
There are two big takeaways from my time in the hated political consultant class. I'll share here because both points are relevant. You have no control over what is currently concerning the electorate on any given day. You can only control how you engage voters over the issue. Trump won because to a lot of politicians simply offered lip service. Talking points. Rehearsed speech which came directly out of a focus group. Whereas Trump, like him or hate him, speaks from the heart. It's genuine. People feel personally engaged with Trump.
Donald Trump at least listened to voters and spoke directly to them. Which one may argue he continues to do even after election. And it still works for him.
