Actress Patti LuPone joined The View yesterday to explain her thoughts on the "Christian right" and how they're actually exactly the same as Islamic extremist terrorists. So just a normal day on The View.

The ladies were discussing Trump's indictment and the 34 charges lodged against him, which LuPone said are "not enough." The conversation then shifted to Governor Ron DeSantis "and the LGBTQ".

LuPone said, “That’s extremely upsetting. These are human beings. I could cry. They’re not harming anybody.”

"I don’t know why he’s doing this. I don’t know – I mean, you know, I said this before. I’m going to get in trouble. I’ve said this before, it’s been in print: I don’t know the difference between our Christian right and the Taliban is. I have no idea what the difference is.”

Whoopi then told her she's not the only person who has made that comparison. LuPone continued, "I just don’t know what the difference is. What is happening in this country right now in the name of religion is so dangerous. It’s not this country. It’s not America as far as – you know, when I was growing up, I didn’t know America was an experiment. They never said America was an experiment when we were growing up. It was a democracy. And now it’s in such danger. It’s so upsetting.”

The real "experiment" going on in America right now is the "gender-affirming medical care" that DeSantis and the Christian right are fighting against. As for the difference between the Taliban and Christian right, for starters, one is Muslim. The other is...Christian. One throws gay people off of buildings. The other prevents children from mutilating their genitals. We are not the same.
