The Washington Post has spent quite some time this year trying to do damage control for the Biden Administration by telling Americans that the economy is better than ever. They wanted you to disbelieve your eyes when you look at your empty wallet. Well, even the Post does not believe its crap. Because the papers union just went on strike and you won't believe what their reasoning is.

"We still lack a contract that keeps pace with record-level inflation and guarantees workers a living wage," The Washington Post Guild wrote in its announcement.

Per The Washington Free Beacon:

"The Washington Post's union cited "record-level inflation" in its decision to strike on Thursday, after the paper argued that the economy under President Joe Biden is strong despite Americans' pessimism."

"The strike comes days after the paper's editorial board published a piece that celebrated 2023 as a "miracle year for the U.S. economy," arguing there's a disconnect between Americans' negative views toward the economy and its actual condition. It referenced, among other data points, the fact that inflation has cooled since rising to record levels last year and that jobs and GDP have both grown since 2022, as well as a boom in consumption."

This is no surprise. Pretty much everyone on the left has at least a decent level of cognitive dissonance that requires you to be a hypocrite but also that makes you unaware of your blatant hypocrisy. That is because their ideology is not based on reality. Every deeply held belief they have is formatted from fabrications of the world, to say the very least. This cognitive dissonance is so extreme that when their policies inevitably fail, they claim it has nothing to do with their ignorance and everything to do with racism and transphobia.

My favorite headline they used this year was "Mad at Biden’s inflation record? Another Trump term would be way worse." That is a perfect example of how ignorant they are while being simultaneously blind to their hypocrisy.

There is a great saying to describe all of this: "If you torture data enough, it will confess to anything you like.” Anyone can manipulate data to make it seem like it supports any hypothesis under the sun, no matter how illogical their claims may be. But the level of stupidity you need to make the claim that somehow the economy is better off with Biden than Trump is an astonishing level of nonsense.

The Free Beacon concluded:

"A CNN poll from Wednesday saw Biden's approval rating hit 37 percent, while his disapproval rating was 63 percent, his worst numbers in any poll the outlet has conducted to date."

This was the year of the union where everyone and their grandpas picketed for a higher wage. And when you think about it, I don't recall any strikes under Trump's tenure. Well, at least not to this extent. This is one reason why real-world analysis is so crucial to understanding economics. You don't need a fancy diploma from a woke university to tell you that the economy is crap. You don't need a degree because you are living all that. And so are union members from The Post.

The union's strike is more than hypocrisy. It is derangement. But that level of arrogance is quite common among those on the left.
