Blue State Calls For Ban Of Hostile Architecture That Prevents Homeless Encampments And... Wait, "Hostile Architecture?"
Progressives in Washington have decided that local officials have no right to come up with efficient ways to prevent homeless encampments.
A new bill would ban “hostile architecture” and make it illegal to set up boulders, structures, or other elements that are used to prevent homeless encampments.
“A new bill would make it illegal for a city to set up boulders, structures or design elements for the purpose of stopping homeless people from camping in a public space.
Senate Bill 6231 calls the obstacles ‘hostile architecture.’
‘Hostile architecture means any building or structure that is designed or intended to prevent people experiencing homelessness from sitting or lying on the building or structure at street level,’ the bill says.
The bill wouldn’t prevent the state from using methods to prevent camping along highways.”
This is an example of what these clowns are talking about.
The rocks are intended to prevent people from camping there.
Here is another example.
This one is meant to prevent people from sleeping on benches.
When state officials are actively trying their hardest to enable and worsen the homeless crisis, cities have to come up with "creative" ways to try and offset the problem. But solving the problem is a problem for Progressives. And you can't have Progressive problems without Progressive solutions.
Although I guess it is a good idea to put ugly rocks along the freeway to prevent encampments, all cities have to do is enforce anti-camping ordinances and prosecute drug/property-related crimes. But because Progressives don't like "facts" they pretend that prosecuting anyone who is "homeless" is more a crime than the crime itself. But the biggest problem with all of that is that the problem has nothing to do with a lack of housing.
State officials are acting as if adding the term "hostile" in front of "architecture" would somehow make those things evil. But unlike most people with a brain, words don't scare the rest of us as they do to people on the left. And just because something is "hostile" that does not subsequently make it a bad thing. As a society, we should be hostile to A LOT of things. And "homeless" encampments are one of those things that deserve hostility.
