If it were up to Democrats in Washington State, we would all be in jail if we even dared to clean up our yards and remove some leaves. At best, you might be able to use a rake. But your actions better not do anything to change the weather.

Did that make any sense? Of course not. But Democrats never make sense. Especially Democrats in Washington State.

According to Fox Business:

“Washington state Democrats are proposing to outlaw new gas-powered lawn equipment, like leaf blowers, with legislation that could land violators in jail.

A bill pre-filed by state Rep. Amy Walen, D-Kirkland, would amend the state's Clean Air Act to ban new ‘gasoline-powered and diesel-powered landscaping and other outdoor power equipment.’ The bill states that gas-powered lawn equipment contributes to climate change and claims such tools cause a range of health problems, including asthma, hearing loss and other issues, KTTH's Jason Rantz reported.

Under the proposed law, the Washington state Department of Ecology would have a Jan. 1, 2026, deadline to ‘adopt rules to prohibit engine exhaust and evaporative emissions from new outdoor power equipment.’ The bill carries limited exemptions for gas-powered equipment used by government agencies and for commercial or residential use when there is no "suitable zero emissions outdoor power equipment technology’ available.”

I highly doubt there is any evidence that banning leaf blowers will control how much rain Seattle will get. But that does not matter since facts or lack of evidence don’t tend to get in the way of Climate Prophecies.

“Violations of the law would constitute a gross misdemeanor under Washington state penal code and carry fines up to $10,000 and imprisonment of up to 364 days per instance.” according to the outlet.

What a total clown show. You could go to jail for one year all because you wanted to remove leaves from your yard.

This is a state that is extremely soft on crime. And we know how all that goes. You can’t de facto promote lawlessness without de facto criminalizing lawfulness. Rather than focus on the real issues at hand, leftists in Washington State want to start punishing gardeners who are just trying to make a living.

How many more things need to be banned before the wind starts blowing in the direction Democrats prefer? How many more things do we need to criminalize that were once considered normal tasks?

At the rate things are going, we might end up needing a list of things that are not going to be banned. That will probably be a lot easier than the other way around.

I guess this is what they meant when they screamed that we need "criminal justice reform."
