WaPo has a sad that people are being "canceled" for supporting Hamas terrorism, so let's remind WaPo who they are
There are people in America who are being punished or threatened with discipline all because they exercised their right to free speech that is guaranteed to them in our Bill of Rights... to support terrorism and chant that Israel both deserved it and has no one to blame but themselves. The journalismers at The Washington Post, in a stunning lack of self-awareness, are sad about this because unlike when they support cancel culture, it's happening to people they like now.
Right. "Their criticism of Israel."
Per WaPo, this backlash is happening to people from all different backgrounds (h/t Twitchy), from a law student and an airline pilot to a basketball writer and an adult-content influencer. That last one, they mean Mia Khalifa. "Adult-content influencer" is the new porn star. Just like "criticism of Israel" is the new telling the terrorists killing Jews to shoot their videos of them doing so in 16:9.
The law student said: "Israel bears full responsibility for this tremendous loss of life. This regime of state-sanctioned violence created the conditions that made resistance necessary. I will not condemn Palestinian resistance.” Again, it's Israel's fault that Hamas started killing women and children.
We saw this with the criticism of the CEO who wants a list of the Harvard students who, hours after terrorists started killing their families, issued a statement that Israel has no one to blame but themselves. "But Brodigan, you conservatives are anti-cancel culture! Hypocrite, much?"
Yes, as a general concept, people should not have their lives destroyed over saying a dumb thing. Our feeling that way has yet to stop the Left from attacking people over every shameful tweet or text message from a decade ago. As we've seen with Bud Light, it's time to play by the left's rules.
What makes the irony of WaPo's struggle session so biting is that, when it is people they think should be canceled, they are cool with them facing discipline, backlash, and lack of employment.
January 2021: So you are being held accountable? That's not 'cancel culture.'
February 2021: Cancel culture blends into victim culture.
March 2021: Why we should cancel the phrase 'cancel culture.'
March 2022: The GOP's gibberish about 'cancel culture' has never looked so dumb.
These are the rules the Left wants to play by. These are the rules that people who work in the journalisming industry, like atThe Washington Post, PLAY by. They can all choke on them.
