On Tuesday, the Senate held a vote on the super serious Green New Deal. The GND isn't serious, as anyone who gets their news outside of NowThis videos will tell you (see ‘Green New Deal’ Would Cost Up to $90 Trillion In Tax Dollars and Here’re 8 STUPID Things You Need to Know about the Idiotic Green New Deal). But it's a crucial part of the Democrat agenda. So Cocaine Mitch (I will never call him by his real name again) in the name of fairness, held a vote on the proposed legislation. Most Democrats voted "present."

Sen. Mike Lee thought it was a good opportunity for a teachable moment. Using giant posters of memes, killer sharks, and tauntauns. The video is 13 minutes, which seems like a lot of time to invest when the world is ending in twelve years. But I believe you'll find it as educational as I did.

As CNN’s Anderson Cooper noted during his Tuesday show, Lee may not be the first politician to bring “giant novelty-size posters” to the Senate floor, but he took the approach “to a whole new level.”

Throughout his roughly 14-minute address, Lee referenced images of Luke Skywalker from “Star Wars” riding a Tauntaun, a fictional species of snow lizard; Aquaman on a 20-foot purple sea horse; and Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert’s (R) cameo battling sharks with a tennis racket in “Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.”

The left will mock. But outside of AOC claiming that she told the Senators not to vote on Tuesday -- yes, a freshman congressperson claiming she told US Senators what to do -- Lee's speech was the only thing that really stood out from Tuesday's vote. It's 2019. If you didn't go viral getting your point across, did you even make a point in the first place?

Here's my question. Set aside the Green New Deal, which is silly. Mike Lee inadvertently raised a very important question. One that I feel deserves an actual debate. A serious debate.
