I'd written a few months ago about Pittsburgh Steelers great James Harrison making his kids give back participation trophies, because they didn't earn them. He was interviewed by Steve Harvey about the 'controversy' surrounding his statements. (i.e. people having an opinion on something just because they read it on the internet), and it turned into a discussion between old school and new school parenting techniques.

"I don't really care what they say," Harrison said. "I'm going to raise my kids the way my parents raised me, and I turned out pretty well.

"I'm going to try and do the same with them and hope they turn out just as well, if not better. My kids are privileged to have a lot of things I didn't get because of what I do. I don't want them to believe that everything is like that. You're going to have to work."

"So I pull them in, sit down, and explain to them I'm proud for the effort that they gave but these trophies are going back until you earn real trophies. … There wasn't any whining or crying. It was more a matter of fact of they're going back, 'Okay, can we go play?'"

Show host Steve Harvey chimed in, saying he believes parenting is about balance. He added, "Privileged kids, man … if you don't teach them early, they grow up to be privileged buttholes."

Wow. Instead of a celebrity making yet another idiotic, hypocritical statement (See "Dear Leonardo DiCaprio, You Energy-Guzzling Moron") that we've come to expect of them, here we have a man advocating personal responsibility. How refreshing is that?

I wonder if Steve Harvey is aware of just how many black SJW's will turn on him for this however. He seems like a sensible guy. Unfortunately, many black Americans are out of touch with the ostracizing of Conservative blacks, simply because people like Mr. Harvey were unaware that the treatment even existed. I don't think Steve Harvey is a Conservative, but to the leftist lynch mob, it doesn't matter.
