How about when we, instead of blowing Iraq back to the seventh century for harbouring terrorists and trying to develop nuclear weapons, we just imposed economic sanctions and were reviled by the Arab world for not giving them a global charge card and a free trade treaty? How about when we pushed Israel to give up land for peace? How about when we sent American soldiers to protect Saudi Arabia, and the Arab world told us we were desecrating their holy land? We'll ignore the fact that we were invited. How about two weeks ago, in the State of the Union when the President praised the Islamic people as faithful and hardworking only to be denounced in the Arab press as knowing nothing about Islam? But none of that is the point.

I don't remember having to explain to Italians that our problem wasn't with them, but with Mussolini! Why does the U.S. have to take every Arab country out for an ice cream cone? They'll like us when we win!

This could easily be said today. Of course it wouldn't actually be said by anyone on the left, what with their apparent allergic reaction to anything deemed "common sense." For after years of appeasement, after years of "diplomacy" for all things Islam, what does the United States have to show for it? Other than a rash of attacks.

Islam is the bully on the schoolyard. They're the bully who is excused by the school staff. Because racism. Meanwhile that bully torments all the other students, who blame the Christian student for everything. Well, one does.

Which is why a flashback to a show from several years ago makes you stand up and cheer. There was a time, not too long ago, where even leftist Hollywood had glimmering moments of understanding. Where you, a thinking human being, didn't feel as if you were doped up on crazy pills. It didn't last long.

We're a long way from where we used to be. We now have a media doing everything they can to cover up and excuse real evil. But reality hasn't changed. Islam hasn't changed. Methinks the American public's opinion hasn't changed.

The difference between now and then? A complicit media, helmed by leftist leadership determined to undermine American values, while propping up the anti-freedom, anti-western, anti-progressive Islam (which are also, not coincidentally, tenets of the left). Even if that means throwing the LGBT community under the explosive, Islamic bus.
