There's black lives matter, the sentiment. There's Black Lives Matter Inc. LLC, the political organization. Then there's black lives matter, the excuse for white people virtue-signaling. Lately, no virtue is being signaled more than when it comes to the police (see DAN CRENSHAW EXPOSES THE TRUTH ABOUT DEMOCRATS AND "POLICE REFORM" and DEMOCRATS PROVE BLACK LIVES DON'T MATTER TO THEM, AND TIM SCOTT IS PISSED). White people want to see police eliminated because they are literally hunting black African-Americans in the streets. The only reason people become cops is because they hate black people. Somehow, including black people who become cops. Actual African-Americans? They think abolishing the police is ridiculous, as this Ami Horowitz short shows.

Here's the ridiculous thing in all of that. Talk to people living in some of these urban areas — not just political activists, but real actual people — they want MORE police. They want better policing. They want better-trained officers and more of a push toward community policing. But defunding the police or abolishing them (which is what most activists mean when they say "defund") is just stupid to anyone with half a brain cell. Which eliminates most of the white people carrying on about cops on behalf of the "marginalized" they think can't speak for themselves.

They're speaking loud and clear. It helps to listen.
