Writer Quits Lena Dunham Newsletter Because of Her "Well Known Racism"
Lena Dunham is in hot water with her fellow feminists. When we thought about all the leftist doucheburritos with extra sriracha who may have gone down over #MeToo-gate, we couldn't have dreamed Lena would be one of them. What with Dunham not being a cis-white male in power.
Unless it turns out she does have a penis, in which case, just...eww.
But it looks like this intellectual chew toy is getting blasted by her own staff. Soon she may be crawling under a rock with a few pints of Halo Top to lick her wounds. Her recent mistakes consist of believing a man who was accused of assault (see Believe All Women? Not According to Feminist Hypocrite Lena Dunham...). Victim shamer. Then apologizing for believing a man who was accused for assault. Now? A former writer of her Lenny Letter is leaving the publication over Dunham's "well known racism."
There isn't enough popcorn in all of Texas to grab for this.
A writer for Dunham’s Lenny Letter is publicly walking away from the online publication, citing what she calls the writer-actress-producer-activist’s “well-known racism.” Author Zinzi Clemmons says that she has known Dunham since their college years, and that the two share overlapping social circles. During that time, Clemmons says she “avoided those people like the plague because of their racism,” adding, “I’d call their strain ‘hipster-racism,’ which typically uses sarcasm as a cover.” She cites her relationship with her editors as the reason she has stayed at Lenny until now, but says that Dunham’s reaction to the accusations made by Perrineau pushed her to leave the newsletter. “As a result of Lena Dunham’s statements, I have decided that I will no longer write for Lenny Letter. For all you writers who are outraged about what she did, I encourage you to do the same. Especially women of color.”
Do these accusations hold any truth to them? Much like if she were a dude on a college campus, we should believe all accusers. Especially if that accuser comes from one of the marginalized groups the left is always screaming about. It's what Lena Dunham would want.
It's hard to feel bad for her when she one of the worst people in America (see Monster of the Year: Lena Dunham Wishes She Had An Abortion). As far as crappy people go, she's somewhere between NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and whoever thought to increase the character limit on Twitter to 280.
