"Mike Rowe DESTROYS..." is used in many titles of our Mike Rowe posts, because words mean things, and he's destroying a lot of ideas. Horrible, awful ideas. Also, as a dude best known for hard work and getting dirty, we think he'd be cool with the figurative wink and nod. Also, according to our comment section and twitter, many women think he's sexy. I was not aware of this and for the longest time I felt quite alone. So without further ado, here he is DESTROYING a reader's argument on "privilege."

It's in response to his post DESTROYING MSNBC's racist dog whistle about 'hard workers.'

Seems fairly simple to me. Life experiences vary dramatically from person to person, and those experiences are influenced by things like race, gender, sexuality, intelligence, attractiveness, and a long list of other attributes out of our personal control. I get it. I’m just not persuaded that “relative privilege” constitutes a good explanation for why an individual fails or succeeds. I believe that anyone - regardless of their gender, race, or sex - can dramatically increase their odds of success by learning a skill that’s in demand, and working their butt off. That doesn’t mean that success is guaranteed to anyone, or that some people don’t have it easier than others. It just means that who we become as individuals has less to do with where we start, and more to do with how we choose to act. Ambition, character, diligence, persistence, work ethic...these things are still available to everyone. And combined, they can still overcome anything.

Like many times before, Mike Rowe is right. Individual choices, actions, and hard work are better gauges of your success than your race or "gender construct." Despite what your SJW, feminist studies professor teaches you that week. It would seem obvious to say that if you want to succeed in life, you have a better chance if you do something worth while and stop complaining about your race, "gender fluidity" or how little people understand your plight as a pan-sexual, transracial cosplay enthusiast.

Of course leftists tend to poo poo the notion that personal responsibility and individual choice playing a role in someone's personal success or failure. That's how they justify proposing a 90% tax rate on the wealthy! That's how they justify affirmative action. That's how they justify absurd divorce/alimony laws in leftist states like California.

Because, if we as a society accept that the individual is responsible for their own life, then there's no one to blame or take credit for that individuals success or failures. So leftists proactively deny it, in turn opening a multitude of social justice causes and government programs/ initiatives which inevitably go up in flames. Don't worry though, Bush did it.

Which is why we're glad we have Mr. Rowe, who just hit the point with a swift one two punch without having to meander into the quagmire of liberal politics. Conservatives, take notes. SJW leftists...
