Julie Jaman thought she was doing the right thing when she saw what she believed to be a man with a penis watching little girls pull down their bathing suits. As it turns out, the man identifies as a woman, and Julie can no longer use the YMCA swimming pool anymore.

Here's what happened. Julie was taking a shower at the Port Townsend YMCA in Washington state when she heard what she believed to be a male voice. She found that troubling since she was in the women's locker room. As Julie tells the story, "I saw a man in a woman's bathing suit watching maybe four or five little girls pulling down their suits in order to use the toilet."

Julie asked the person who was watching four or five little girls pulling down their suits if they had a 'penis.' The person said it was none of their business. Julie screamed for the person to leave the locker room.

Julie told another staffer at the pool about who she believed to be a man watching little girls take their bathing suits off and was shocked to be told that she was "discriminating" and was "banned from the pool forever." The staffer even threatened to call the police. Why? Turns out it wasn't a man in the women's locker room. It was only someone born a man, who hasn't transitioned yet. Which, as the AP Styleguide tells us, makes that person a woman.

The staffer who threatened to call the cops must have done so. According to the Daily Mail, a police report was filed and Jaman is listed as having "an emotional response to a strange male being in the bathroom."

A similar story happened in Los Angeles last year, where a woman had dosed off in the locker room and woke up surprised to see what she believed to be a male penis. Turns out the male identified as a female, so it was a female penis in the locker room. In the case of this YMCA, the person in question works at the pool and is still saving up for the full transition.

Erin Hawkins, communications manager for the Olympic Peninsula YMCA, told Fox News that Julie was banned not for this incident but for numerous violations of the YMCA's code of conduct. Specifically, using "disrespectful words." However, no examples were provided of past instances or why Jaman yelling at who she believed to be a man watching little girls undress would be the final straw.

Jaman maintains it's inappropriate for a [whoever] with male genitalia to be in the women's locker room. And if the YMCA is going to allow it, they should at least put up a sign.
