Zimbabwe is facing a severe drought. No, Bill Nye, not because of climate change. Because Zimbabwe is in Africa and Africa is a desert. Their government has decided to sell off their surplus of wild animals in an attempt to make money. Cue leftist outrage. Also, that money is needed to buy food and water. You know, necessities for survival.

[T]he country intends to "destock its park estates" by selling animals to "private wildlife reserves" but offers a few additional details, CNN reports. According to UNICEF, 37 percent of households in Zimbabwe are hungry. The dry conditions have "decimated" livestock.

Zimbabwe's famous national parks are teeming with animals such as lions, elephants, cheetahs and monkeys... Last year, Zimbabwe sold dozens of elephants to China in a bid to raise money for conservation efforts... The sale was sharply criticized by wildlife protection groups.

There's something really annoying about all of this. "Wildlife protection groups" is code for obnoxious leftists who typically value animals over people. Usually because they're grossly inept when it comes to making human connections. Animals don't judge. These are the people who lost their minds when Cecil the celebrity lion, from Zimbabwe, was killed. He was a true martyr for them.

Their outrage certainly made an impact. Hunters stopped visiting Zimbabwe for fear of social crucifixion. Result? The lion population exploded. It was a perfect ending for leftist activists. Not for the lions or the people of Zimbabwe though. There weren't nearly enough resources for the extra lions. Aaand they started killing people, because that's what lions do (see CECIL BACKLASH: Zimbabwe Now Has to Kill Hundred of Un-hunted Lions to Save Villagers). I wouldn't call that a success.

See what happens when the SJW left gets their way? Western liberals care about climate change, wildlife preservation, the environment... These people care about not dying. By lion or by starvation. But where are the bleeding heart leftists for these starving people?

Nowhere. They're not running charity drives. They're not stepping up to help. They're nowhere to be found. People dying from starvation? Leftists say "Pfft! Who cares?"

These Zimbabweans have bigger priorities. They're busy scrambling to survive. Let's note how they choose to survive. Capitalism. Their only hope of getting through this drought is the money they'll make off of the sales of their native animal. Which is what they were kind of doing before the death of Cecil was so widely slammed. Of course, SJWs would rather ban these starving citizens from doing so by making animal sale illegal. Because a few starving lions are more important than an entire nation of people. You'd feel the same way too if you were incapable of meaningful human interaction.
