In an article published in the New York Times, a native of Zimbabwe gave the real Zimbabwean point of view on Cecil the Lion. Also just lions in general. –HINT: they're kind of A-holes.– Yes, it’s a major reality check for the left, PETA, and all the other animal rights activists.

Cecil who? I wondered. When I turned on the news and discovered that the messages were about a lion killed by an American dentist, the village boy inside me instinctively cheered: One lion fewer to menace families like mine.

My excitement was doused when I realized that the lion killer was being painted as the villain. I faced the starkest cultural contradiction I’d experienced during my five years studying in the United States.

Did all those Americans signing petitions understand that lions actually kill people? That all the talk about Cecil being “beloved” or a “local favorite” was media hype? Did Jimmy Kimmel choke up because Cecil was murdered or because he confused him with Simba from “The Lion King”?

In my village in Zimbabwe, surrounded by wildlife conservation areas, no lion has ever been beloved, or granted an affectionate nickname. They are objects of terror.

The article's point is clear: Americans glorify animals, and couldn’t care less about people. See, while privileged, liberal Americans are pre-occupied with easing their white guilt, African children find themselves more pre-occupied with the general precept of, oh, not dying.

Shocking, I know. Here’s a fun fact: Lions kill over 250 people a year! Ever see "The Ghost and The Darkness"? It's like 'Jaws' with claws, and it's horrifying. Even worse is that its based on a true story.

Doc Holliday don't take no Lion crap...

In the article, Nozou puts it best when he writes:

“We Zimbabweans are left shaking our heads, wondering why Americans care more about African animals than about African people.”

Exactly. Listen, I'm not a hunter. I've got a rescue-dog. He's big, smelly and imperfect. I'm an animal lover. That being said, if I had to personally murder a thousand lions to save just one human baby, I wouldn't even hesitate. Assuming I had the appropriate weaponry of course. Lions are scary as crap.

But leftists don't care. Everything leftists do and support hurts African children. Let me count the ways...

- They need DDT to protect against malaria. Nope! Protest!

- They need GMO's to feed the starving. Nope! Protest!

- The Christian church and missionaries do more charity work for the continent than any other organization in the world. Take away their tax-exempt status!

I guess the only way to get liberals to care about abortion would be to punch a pregnant lion in the stomach. The media'd be on that faster than a duck on a junebug.
