Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just took smoke being blown up her ass and funneled it into a masterpiece. I know, right? I'm complimenting Ocasio-Cortez. Mark your calendars. But when someone is right, they're right; political affiliation, attitude, whether they prefer their toilet paper over or under, matter's not. Vox.com tweeted an article by Mathew Yglesias suggesting Ocasio-Cortez should run for president. Ocasio-Cortez responded with this:

"Sometimes political media is too fixated on personalities instead of policies."

She's 100 percent right. Read that again, because it's a special moment. Ocasio-Cortez has tweeted a lot of stupid crap. A lot. She's said a lot of stupid crap. A lot. But this is so dead on we have to applaud her for it.

Here, Alexandria. You deserve this one:

Media is obsessed with the cult of personality. Which explains Beto O'Rourke, Barack Obama, Ocasio-Cortez herself (she may not know it, but she benefited much from media being obsessed with personalities), and even Donald Trump. Yes, Donald Trump. Media couldn't stay away from him. Trump's personality is ratings gold. You know it, I know it, he certainly knows it.

Policies, however, that's dry toast. Any more media is in the business of entertainment. Discussion of the issues, of policies which affect people's lives, it's not as interesting. Which is exactly why politicians and their mouthpieces in media make issues emotional with "IF THE GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN, YOU'LL ALL DIE!" So yes, we disagree with Ocasio-Cortez on just about every little thing. But not on this one. She's right, even if she did benefit from the same media. She's still right.
