Ted Cruz on Drafting Women Into the Military: "We Ain't Doing It..."
For some reason, at the last Republican debate, some of the candidates talked about opening up the selective service to women and allowing them to get drafted into combat. Ted Cruz wasn't part of that debate, though he did have a few thoughts about it on the campaign trail...
“I have to admit, as I was sitting there listening to that conversation, my reaction was, ‘Are you guys nuts?’” Cruz said, according to Politico. “Listen, we have had enough with political correctness, especially in the military. Political correctness is dangerous. And the idea that we would draft our daughters to forcibly bring them into the military and put them in close combat, I think is wrong, it is immoral, and if I am president, we ain’t doing it."
Look, we've made our views about women in combat perfectly clear (see Strength Expert Exposes Politically Incorrect Truth Regarding Women in Combat… and Shocking New Marines Study: Men are Better Soldiers Than Women… In Every Facet!). Also, let's not act like this country is going to be re-instituting the draft anytime soon. Granted, with this President and his foreign policy...actually, no. Let's not act like this country is going to be re-instituting the draft anytime soon.
But what we have here is what you call the "slippery slope." You want women on the front lines because equality? Then they should be able to get drafted into combat just like men, because equality.
But the truth is that we aren't equal. Men and women will never be equal. Just like a hot-dog and a hamburger will never be equal. It doesn't mean one sex is superior to the other, simply different. Oh, except for when it relates to strenuous, physical activity, then yes, men are far superior to women in nearly every facet. Oh, and that very first "female combatant"? Yeah, she went AWOL. No seriously, read "First Women to Enlist in Combat Goes AWOL" here.
While we're on the topic (because "sexism" is so hot these days), many of you may be unaware that this, this right now is what comes as a complication of "women's suffrage." We were told for a long time that men simply suppressed women's right to vote because they hated vaginas. The truth is that in order to earn your right to vote, men had to perform bucket duty, provide proof of service to the community and take part in the mandatory draft. A big reason women weren't allowed to vote, was because they were never expected to perform any of these duties.
Despite what people tell you today, voting back then was not a right, but a privilege afforded exclusively to society's contributing members who put themselves in harm's way for their country. It's true. I even talked about it with noted feminist expert, Karen Straughan below.
Now I'm not saying that women shouldn't have the right to vote. I'm not even saying that women should have to be a part of the draft. What I am saying is that feminist liberals want to have it both ways, and it has nothing to do with equality. So stop trying to sell us that same, tired old line of BS.
