Liberals Now Want to Eliminate Words "Husband" and "Wife" from Federal Law...
Yes, it’s exactly what you've just read in the title. More than two dozen Democrats have come together and proposed a bill to totally remove the words "husband" and "wife" from United States federal law. No word yet on "pitcher" or "catcher."
Why? Because, they are ‘gendered’ terms. That’s right. The left wants to replace them with more 'gender neutral' terms, like "married couple" or some other non-offensive term... which is sure to actually become an offensive term a short while later. After all, it would be discriminatory toward the constitutional right of same-sex marriage now... I think. I'm not quite sure.
So the argument here seems to be that by not being inclusive in all of our terminology…we’re hurting gay people? The terms 'husband' and 'wife' aren't hateful, they're just reserved for people who actually are husbands and wives. Why is this a thing? I'll tell you why. For the same reason that "cis-gender" is now being pushed as the politically correct term, as opposed to the once accepted word... "normal." The SJW left wants to see "husband and wife" done away with because there is no other way to make "husband and husband" seem as run-of-the-mill.
See, even though same-sex marriage is legal, it's still far less common. Statistically it's not even close. It will always be seen as "abnormal" or "atypical" by its very definition. Even though the law has changed, that's not enough. The current social engineering requires leftists to change public perception of reality. Same-sex marriages are rare, so we need new terminology to make it seem not-so-rare. Make sense? It shouldn't.
This is what happens when we deny the American history of marriage. Regardless of how you feel, as a social construct, marriage was always designed to be between a man and a women. Remember when you were told that none of this affected you? Yeah, that was a lie... if only because you won't be able to call things by their actual names for fear of 'hate speech' laws.
Regardless of where you line up on same-sex marriage, this is the path we're on. Anyone who even acknowledges the potential ramifications of destroying a long-upheld societal construct isn’t going to be allowed to disagree. It will become all but illegal.
It's not enough for you to be neutral, it's not enough for you to support a political cause while reserving the right to hold a different personal opinion. We're passed that. It's behind us know. The left now demands that you change your private views to meet theirs... or face destruction.
Welcome to the new America. Husband and Wife-less.
