I can understand the leftist outrage over Donald Trump. He said some pretty mean things and mean things are triggering. Retreat to thy safe spaces. The latest outrage? This post on the Dolce & Gabbana Instagram account...

A fashion designer posting a photo of someone famous wearing one of their dresses? That's the entire point of the fashion industry. It's actually 50% of their economic model. But don't quote me on that number.

But when that famous person is married to Donald Trump? Oh hell naw...

Fashion bloggers seethed with derision. On Gabbana’s original post, haters flooded the comments section, lobbing insults at the Italian design maestros like, “you’re garbage and your brand is tacky,” and accused the duo of being complicit in a controversial election. “You should know stefano that OUR election has torn apart our country….If it were Mrs Reagan, Bush or Obama (either party) no one on either side would mind. But this is offensive to the core…”

Another accused D&G of aiding and abetting Nazisim: “No! Whether she’s beautiful or not, would you be proud to dress Eva Braun? So wrong.”

If designers want to refuse service based on deeply held beliefs, I say God bless. If only Christian bakers of the past eight years were allowed such loyalty to their own consciences.

Other designers can see that, regardless of feelings towards the President-elect, anything Melania is photographed in sells out almost instantaneously. She's a beautiful woman, and would still be a beautiful woman if she wasn't married to the new President. Designers like to see their clothes on beautiful women. Consumers also like to see clothes on beautiful women. Hence the entire modeling industry who has a monopoly on beautiful women. Not seacows like Lena Dunham.

Alas, D&G praising a beautiful woman wearing their dress? Not okay from the tolerant leftists of our time. If a pretty woman whose husband has an "R" after his name, wears your dress? Fling poo at her like you're but a baboon in a zoo exhibit. That'll really show her how high and mighty you are.
