Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and what seems to be every new Democrat to jump into the pool of lunatics running for president, are rabid socialists. Leading common sense minded people to naturally assume the future of the Democrat Party is kinda socialist. Here to promise you it isn't, Nancy Pelosi. The same Nancy Pelosi who urged the passage of Obamacare so we could read what was in it. The same Nancy Pelosi who called MS-13 children of God. Now Nancy promises despite Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and crazy Bernie, the Democrats are totally not socialists, stop it. The subject came up in a conversation about Medicare with Leslie Stahl, in an interview segment I couldn't find on YouTube. From CNN:

"And it is allowing (President Donald Trump) to say you're all socialists," Stahl said.

"Do you know that when we did -- when Medicare was done by the Congress at the time, under Lyndon Johnson, Ronald Reagan said, 'Medicare will lead us to a socialist dictatorship.' This is an ongoing theme of the Republicans," Pelosi replied. "However -- I do reject socialism as a economic system. If people have that view, that's their view. That is not the view of the Democratic Party."

Now, what the platform is and what a member of the platform is can be different. One hundred percent. America was founded on the ideas of freedom, including freedom of speech and the right to keep and bear arms. Yet there are plenty of people, who also happen to be Democrats, who disagree with the basic tenets of America's platform, despite still being Americans. Okay? Okay.

Young Democrats are tilting more socialist, despite what Nancy says is against the party platform. Heck, Bernie Sanders ain't a young blood, but he's leading the polls with Joe Biden for the presidential ticket. So Democrats have themselves a branding problem.

Nancy Pelosi knows she's got a problem here. Most of America still rejects socialism. But her party, including many in leadership positions like Bernie Sanders, and young upstarts who are seen as leading the party, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are pushing Democrats into socialism. Fast. Whether Nancy rejects it or not.
