Cruz Nails DHS for Accepting Refugees 'Based on Their Word Alone...'
Ted Cruz, regardless of your opinion of him or how you took his Trump endorsement, is still at his best in hearings (see Ted Cruz Destroys DHS Secretary Over ‘Systematic Scrubbing’ of Radical Islam and Ted Cruz Delivers Best Performance Yet at Climate Change Hearing). Exhibit Q: Ted Cruz vs DHS.
Homeland Security's alleged "vetting" of accepting refugees consists entirely of...taking the refugee at their word, no questions asked. Sounds legit.
Cruz wanted answers...
“It’s a very simple question,” Cruz shot back. “Is it true or false that the testimony of the applicant alone can be sufficient for approval?”Rodriguez conceded that there are “cases where the testimony is not necessarily corroborated by documents, but it is always tested against country conditions and other information.”
Still not satisfied, Cruz asked for a firm answer once more. And this time he got it.
“I am acknowledging that yes, testimony can be the basis for the grant of a refugee but it needs to be tested against other information we know — about the country conditions, at a minimum.”
Side note, this is another example why Donald Trump happens. People want the government to take immigration seriously. The government in turn allows refugees from countries who hate us, if they just promise to be nice.
That is not an over-simplification. Rodriguez used bigger words, sure, but that's what he said. "If refugees promise to be our best friends, we'll share our snack packs at recess."
Promises, promises.
The United States government actually has some responsibilities to its people. Providing healthy lunch alternatives is not one of those responsibilities. Nor is mandating you insure yourself with medical coverage. But one responsibility it does have is to protect the people from enemies, foreign and domestic. Pretty sure I read that somewhere. No, "enemy" is not saturated fat. Enemy here includes people who hate America and want to blow us off Planet Earth with suitcase bombs that look like clocks. Or bombs that just look like bombs. #BombsAreBombs
Many of those bombers, stabbers or beheaders come from countries like Syria, Iran, Iraq, and even more "moderate" Islamic countries like Indonesia, UAE and so forth. Refugees should be vetted before they enter the United States, yes? And their vetting should include more than just a pinky swear.
Which is Cruz's point. Pinky swears are fine for little girls with pigtails in the second grade. Not so much for refugees who might also be ISIS terrorists. Read Surprise! New German Intel Report Confirms ISIS Posed as Refugees...
