A gunman entered the Legislative Gazette building on Thursday and killed five people. As with most shootings, leftists huddled up, looking for how to score political hot takes. Decision? It was the fault of Donald Trump's rhetoric. Don't forget to blame the NRA. Plus the easy access to guns. Which, according to the left, are easier to acquire than puff paint for protest boards.

Turns out the shooter, at least what we know now, wasn't politically motivated at all. He had a long-standing vendetta against the newspaper. Going way back before Donald Trump's tenure in la Casa Blanca. So no MAGA hat.

Not that pesky facts would stop Think Progress from blaming Trump anyway. When you're in media, facts just get in the way of narratives.

I used a screen grab of the tweet so I could blue out the shooters name. Because f*** that guy. F*** the shooter too.

Firstly:

Okay no, the shooter wasn't an actual Trump supporter. But according to the dingus above, the shooter was a Trump supporter because of a retweet from before Trump was president. A tweet which had nothing to do with politics what so ever. Like the media, the shooter was looking for anything which would support his narrative.

But had the shooter found a tweet from Barack Obama complaining about the bias of FoxNews, methinks the shooter may have been just as likely to retweet it.

Going with this kind of "logic," I'm a Trump supporter. Just because I tweeted about Celebrity Apprentice when John Rich won. You see how the talking point falls apart.

Here's what's remarkable about Judd Legum: he tweeted this hot take AFTER facts were released. AFTER it was revealed the shooter had a long standing grudge against the specific newspaper for a specific story they ran about him, for which the shooter sued and lost the suit. It was personal. The personal animus went as far back as 2011. Long before Trump made rumblings about a serious presidential run.

If the "Trump's Rhetoric though" was the hot take before we heard any facts, I could almost understand it. Just by following the insane logic of Twitter. Which is why Twitter is a cesspool of suck.
